Beckhoff Netherlands grows with new office in Enschede
The new Beckhoff office in Enschede started operations in July 2020. Thus, Beckhoff now has three sales locations in the Netherlands. Office manager Bernard Gerdes, who began searching for suitable premises and setting up the new location in August 2019, is looking forward to his new task in a young environment characterized by technological innovation, together with his colleague Geert Baars.
“With the new office, we are further consolidating our sales network in the Netherlands and offering our customers in the east of the country a point of contact,” Bernard Gerdes explains the strategic decision, adding: “A considerable proportion of our Dutch customers are located in the east of the country. Therefore, the choice of Enschede as the location for our third Dutch office was only logical.” The region is home to many companies from the high-tech, machine building, food, and chemical industries.

Spacious offices and a training room for Beckhoff customers

The new office has three rooms on a total floor space of 140 square meters. There is even a 50 square meter training room for customer seminars. “This is a big leap for Beckhoff Netherlands, since we previously had only one training room in Haarlem,” Bernard reports, adding: “For customers from our region, this is about a two-and-a-half-hour drive.” Also, a 50 square meter demonstration and conference room and 40 square meters of office space are available. Bernard Gerdes is currently looking for an additional support engineer and a sales engineer, in order to win new customers and provide even better support for existing ones.

Twente Knowledge Park and University of Twente are high-tech boosters of the region

The new location is in the Twente region, which consists of the cities of Hengelo, Almelo, and Enschede. The knowledge park with the University of Twente is one of the leading Dutch innovation campuses and offers an ideal basis for staying close to the pulse of the latest developments in research and science. With more than 3,000 foreign students, the university has a very international orientation and offers a large part of its courses, including many technical courses, in English. “This is ideal for finding highly qualified potential new employees,” Bernard Gerdes says. He is also pleased with the lively event culture on campus: “Start-ups, small and medium-sized companies, and the large industrial groups exchange ideas on innovative projects with the scientists at various meetings and seminars in the knowledge park. In this way, new contacts to potential customers are quickly established.”
